Sunday Platform: Religious Studies (and Why They Matter)

  • Oct 14, 2012 · 11:00 AM

With Clergy Leader in Training Catherine Bordeau

Most of us were raised with some form of religion in our lives. This platform will explore the intersections of myth and what some of us find “holy” in these ancient texts and stories, and the crosscutting of historical meaning and interpretive meaning. Join us to learn about “historical critical exegesis” – that is, the critical study of ancient sacred texts in their historical context – and why it matters to atheists and theists alike.

Sunday Platforms are a long-standing tradition within Ethical Culture to bring light and heat to matters of ethical concern in a formal setting.
