ONE NIGHT. 3,000 NEW YORKERS. LET'S MAKE IT COUNT.
BCS is putting together a team of volunteers for the NYC Department of Homeless Services "HOPE 2012" project, and we need your support! HOPE 2012 is an annual survey conducted by DHS to count the number of unsheltered individuals around the city. This project is critical to reduce homelessness around New York City.
Volunteers are trained the night of the event to survey streets, subways, and parks around NYC to count the number of individuals seen living on the streets, and to offer housing resources if they are interested. Safety is important. You will have a team leader, and will work in teams of 3-5 people at all times.
We will be meeting together beforehand at a local cafe in Downtown Brooklyn, to be determined, to enjoy some hot beverages and get to know each other before we venture out.
When: Monday, January 30th. From 9pm to 4am.
