We are trying to create a fun and welcoming place to come together and bring fantastic creations to life. Some of our meetups have included learning about Arduino, knitting, sewing, 3D printers, and Linux, making crepe paper roses, chainmaille, and jewelry, and working on a CNC router, as well as attending Maker Faires all over Colorado and visiting with our neighbor makerspaces. We are currently hanging out at the Broomfield Library and at a garage in Northglenn, but we are hunting for an affordable space we can rent.
The communities built around makerspaces are typically filled with makers with many different fields of expertise. That expertise is shared among the members through classes and workshops, as well as through informal hangouts. Makers themselves come in many shapes and sizes, and makers may not even know they are makers until they are given the opportunity to create something! Lots of Makerspaces are home to entrepreneurs who are starting their own businesses creating brand new products. The community will include makers from all ages and capabilities, all sharing the common goal of wanting to have fun and make things.
