Broward Guitar Sessions

This Meetup is for beginner and intermediate guitarist interested in getting together for informal jam sessions. Have you hit a plateau with your guitar skills? To improve you need to play with other people! We will (usually) meet the first Tuesday of each month and the focus is on playing in time and in tune with others.

All guitarists (acoustic, electric and bass) are welcome. Participants should be able to play basic open chords and barre chords, and be able to read chord diagrams and guitar tablature. We will play mostly rock, blues, metal and pop, but we are open to playing all musical genres. Each session we will play previously selected song(s) as a starting point and then we will move on to learning whatever riff, song, or solo you want to bring to the group. Have a song that you really want to nail? Recommend it and we will all practice it for the next monthly session!

We will meet in the Kiddish Room @ Temple Beth Emet, just south of Griffin on Flamingo.  Look for the Guitar Poster inside the main entrance or ask the Sheriff's Deputy.  Check this page to find out what songs we are working on for the next session, and then tune up, warm up, and show up.

Hi all, I really apologize but a fellow musician pointed out the chord alignment in "Mother" was incorrect. I have uploaded the correct alignment now. I hope some of us have practiced the lead. I used Marty Schwartz's YouTube and did ok. But I'm more of an acoustic than electric player. But I will bring both guitars regardless. Please accept my apologies and I"ll see everyone tomorrow evening.

I have place the music for Pink Floyd in the Files section. There are 2 different tabs for Comfortable Numb and 1 chord version. I think the chord version sounds the best. Also here is a link to YouTube to learn the different strumming patterns for "Mother". I usually don't follow this musician but she did a good job explaining it.

This link below is another guy from YouTube who plays is straight through. I found these both helpful.

Pink Floyd songs would be great, I love Pink Floyd. Which songs do you think would be fun and easy to learn?

We have chosen 3: Wish You Were Here, Mother, Comfortably Numb. I've only been playing for about 6 months and I'm able to get through these (not too badly). I'll be posting the Tabs and also a YouTube link I found where someone taught the "strum" to Mother pretty logically. I'll be posting no later than this weekend.
