TEAM Night-Awards Ceremony-DON'T RSVP UNLESS YOUR TEAM IS REGISTERED:)

  • July 16, 2013 · 6:00 PM
  • Forzano Park

This is our weekly team night event. Only RSVP if you have an active team for TEAM Night, thanks. PLEASE DO NOT COME OUT IF YOU ARE NOT ON A TEAM ALREADY. We will most likely be restarting after we are done with this season. Look for details in June via email.

If you're interested in playing with us at Forzano Park, check out our meetups on Monday and Thursday. See you soon :)

Teams:

Thunder Cats-->Captain: Wendy, David, Dustin, Josh, Karlo

The A-Team-->Captain: Valerie, Ryan, Greg, Jeff M., Nitin

ON FIRE!!--> Captain: Miriam, Vanessa, Jeff, Brian, Renzo

Tall Order-->Captain: Alexa, Patrick, Frankie, Tam, Ray

Four Play On The Sand-->Captain: Helena, Jason, Arcely, Archie, Jose

Underestimated !!!-->Captain: Linda, Gary, Mike K., Alejandro, Nixon

Highlighters-->Captain: Maricel, Nam, Dave, Norma, Alex

The Mafia-->Captain: Yvonne, Natallia, Viktor, Jerrell, Lee

We will observe the following basic faults:

-Blocking a serve: Don't block a ball that is being served

-Attacking a serve: Meaning when you hit a ball that was served it cannot have a downward trajectory. No over hand hits/poke/tip/jumping to hit a serve.

-Net: no contact with the net during play to or bottom of the net. We're doing this for safety reasons

-Double hitting: Keep hands together or make simultaneous contact with both hands (minimal spin is allowed, otherwise it is considered a double hit)

-Carrying the ball: no prolonged contact with the ball. Must be a quick and clean contact.

-Open hand setting/passing: the ball must be square/have a straight trajectory (minimal spin is allowed, otherwise it is considered a double hit).

-No open hand receive on a serve: Your hands must be together when you receive a served ball.

Check out this link to outdoor volleyball rules (sand/beach and grass). This version is adapted for 3v3, 4v4, and 6v6 play as well as for 2v2 (doubles):

https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ncva.com%2Fdownloads%2FReferee%2520Rule%2520Book%2520-%2520Outdoor.pdf

-Open play from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm

-First round of matches at 7 pm

-Second round at 8 pm

- 3 games to 15 (Best of 3), no cap

-Team captains will be responsible for making sure their team is present and on time.

-Substituting players: only allowed when you have 3 or less players present from your original team. we will only substitute players that are already on a team. If you have 4 or more players present you play as is (if you're short one player, you play with 4 instead of 5). You can choose a sub from the people present on around the court RIGHT BEFORE your match (if you play at 8, then you chose someone around 7:45 pm and warm up a little with them). We will only substitute players in that are already on a team. The opposing team (the team that you are going to play) has to agree with the person that you are subbing in before you start the match.

Hey guys, tonight we are going to close out the season by congratulating the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finalists and reviewing the online survey results. Please bring a food or drink item to share. Also if anyone has a table that they wouldn't mind bringing to Forzano that would be very much appreciated.

    See you there :)
