INTERMEDIATE Volleyball@ Forzano-Please Read the Description of Our Group

  • Oct 10, 2013 · 6:00 PM
  • Forzano Park

This night is primarily set up for INTERMEDIATE level players that are prepared to bump/set/spike!

If you can:

Bump the ball to the center position 70-90% of the time

Set the ball  70-90% of the time

Bump or Spike it over the net 70-90% of the time

Then you've come to the right place! ;)

We will observe the following basic faults

-Blocking a serve

-Attacking a serve: Meaning when you hit a ball that was served it cannot have a downward trajectory. No over hand hits/poke/tip/jumping to hit a serve.

-Net: no contact with any part of the net during play

-Double hitting

-Carrying the ball: no prolonged contact with the ball. Must be a quick and clean contact.

-Open hand setting/passing: the ball must be square/have a straight trajectory.

-No open hand receive on a serve: Your hands must be together when you receive a served ball.

If you are having trouble consistently doing these things then Mondays or Wednesday beginner's night and training camps are there for you to develop these skills. At the intermediate level, we want to refine our skills and take our play to the next level together.

Check out this link to outdoor volleyball rules (sand/beach and grass). This version is adapted for 3v3, 4v4, and 6v6 play as well as for 2v2 (doubles):

Bring your positive attitudes!!  It's all for fun, but at this level, there are more competitive spirits!

We play in teams of 4-5 people or less to work on our bump/set/spike skills. If we have more than 4 teams of five players (20 people total), additional players will wait for the next game. After which they can choose their teammates from the people that lost on the challenge court and/or winner's court.

Players that RSVP will have priority to play. We will play with no more than 25 people total. So remember to RSVP so that you can be assured a spot.

Please cancel/change your RSVP to "NO" if you cant come so that someone else can have a chance to play.

Starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 10 pm. HOW TO FIND US: We are on the FRONT 1-2 courts, closest to the parking lot.  Plenty of parking in the lot or on the side street northeast of the parking lot. It's free!

Dress in comfy clothes and bring plenty of liquids. Prepare to protect your belongings IF it happens to rain. See ya there for some good 'ole fashioned volleyball games! Email me if you have questions.

Need a favor everyone, try and record some games on your phone and send them to me on Google Drive, drop box, any online storage sites. I want to put together a video. I've done a couple for indoor games but don't have enough footage for outdoor games.

Also try to keep the videos at least 1280 x 720p resolution so they can be HD quality.

Hey Jun, don't forget to show the highlight where I had a kill, straight down the middle, during the double game toward the end of the night. Please. :)

In the spirit of competition, I lost my temper. I'm sorry, Alex, Maddie, Maricarmen, and Nancy for losing my cool.

No worries, Tam. I was in the same boat. The way it worked out, I don't think we lost twice in a row until we were all kind of sour. We just needed some fresh air!

Tam, don't worry, I had fun. We won some we lost some games but in the end I love you just in the way that you are, and I know you can feel frustrated when you are loosing. I appreciate your words and any way I ll be playing with you again. :) lol

Vanessa, just a suggestion. Do you think you can setup a Team Night co-ed double? Depending upon number of teams, we can collect $10-$20 per team to buy 2 double court lines, which the winners will get to keep.

Vanessa usually goes there at 545 or so along with sly... Mind that you might need more than one holding an extra court for doubles... It has been crazy lately
