Tues INTERMEDIATE sand volleyball @ Forzano Park in Miramar

  • Jan 14, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • Forzano Park

This night is primarily set up for Intermediate level players that are prepared to bump/set/spike!

If you can:

Bump the ball to the center position

Set the ball

Bump or Spike it over the net 70-90% of the time

Then you've come to the right place! ;)

-Blocking a serve

-Attacking a serve: Meaning when you hit a ball that was served it cannot have a downward trajectory. No over hand hits/poke/tip/jumping to hit a serve.

-Net: no contact with the net during play

-Double hitting

-Carrying the ball: no prolonged contact with the ball. Must be a quick and clean contact.

-Open hand setting/passing: the ball must be square/have a straight trajectory.

-No open hand receive on a serve: Your hands must be together when you receive a served ball.

If you are having trouble consistently doing these things then Mondays beginner's night and training camps are there for you to develop these skills. At the intermediate level, we want to refine our skills and take our play to the next level together.

Check out this link to outdoor volleyball rules (sand/beach and grass). This version is adapted for 3v3, 4v4, and 6v6 play as well as for 2v2 (doubles):

Bring your positive attitudes!!  It's all for fun, but at this level, there are more competitive spirits!

We play in teams of 4-5 people or less to work on our bump/set/spike skills. If we have more than 4 teams of five players (20 people total), additional players will wait for the next game. After which they can choose their teammates from the people that lost on the challenge court and/or winner's court.

Players that RSVP will have priority to play. We will play with no more than 25 people total. So remember to RSVP so that you can be assured a spot.

Please cancel/change your RSVP to "NO" if you cant come so that someone else can have a chance to play.

Starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 10 pm. HOW TO FIND US: We are on the FRONT 1-2 courts, closest to the parking lot.  Plenty of parking in the lot or on the side street northeast of the parking lot. It's free!

Dress in comfy clothes and bring plenty of liquids. Prepare to protect your belongings IF it happens to rain. See ya there for some good 'ole fashioned volleyball games! Email me if you have questions.

I'm first on the waiting list. Once the spot opened up, does Meetup still automatically RSVP me or do I have to do it myself?

OK. Here's final words... If there is a waiting list, Meetup will automatically RVSP the next person on the list, when a spot is opened up. However, if there is "want a spot", then you have to RSVP yourself.

I didnt know that there was a difference. I think the "want a spot" might be form Mondays only because we don't have a waiting list. Thanks to those folks that can come out early. I will be there after work

David, Dustin, and I are shooting for 5:30 if anyone wants to make it early to play.

I am giving my spot up for tonight. The lights on our regular courts are still not working so some people will need to be there early to get courts. Even then, if the regulars on those back 4 courts are back tonight in full force it may be hard to hold on to 2 courts.

I feel the same way. I kinda feel bad taking two courts for our group, Knowing that there are at least three other groups that come regularly <sigh>
