Camp Barracudas is a camp for Triathletes of all levels, looking for friends to train with. We run, bike, and swim at all levels, and work to create an environment of support and comradery.
All workouts are "Triathlete Friendly". which means:
* Safety and comradery first.* On the swims, especially the OWS, we will try to stay together, and make sure everyone is safe.* On the bike rides, we are mostly in the aerobars. Which means we do not draft, and you should not follow too close. When in the aero position, your ability to stop, turn, and call out road hazards, are significantly slowed down.* On bike rides, we abide by all rules of the road, and expect courtesy from our riders. Our rides are generally from 18-22 MPH, we try not to drop anyone, and will stop for mechanicals.* On runs, everyone will usually run at their own pace, and everyone is responsible for proper nutrition and hydration for their run and training.
Camps Include: Swimming - Most Members of the Barracudas swim at the Weston YMCA , LA Fitness Sawgrass, or Central Park Plantation. If you are looking for swim partners, please inquire on FB, and members will let you know when they swim. Also, as the weather warms up, we will schedule OWS/Run Bricks on Sundays, combined with the longer runs.
Saturday Morning Rides - Either leading the A group of Camp Amistad, 7:00AM at the NE corner of Weston RD and St Rd 84. OR An independent ride starting at 7:00AM for the Weston Town Center Bell Tower. Check FB andMeetup for each weeks ride. Count on Starbucks after.
Most Cudas bike during the week, early in the morning, some earlier than others, and most every day. Many of the rides are a ride/run brick. If your looking for a weekday training ride in the morning, put your inquiry on the CudasFB page, and members will let you know about there scheduled rides, and bricks.
Sunday Morning Runs - 7:30 AM leaving from either A1A Ft Lauderdale Beach Park at South Side, meet by restrooms. OR The Levee at Markham Park. Running distance and speed is up to each individual, and their training plan., The Sunday runs are usually longer runs, 5 to 10 miles. Check FB and Meetup each weeks for run locations. Count on Starbucks after. Wed Night Run - 7:00PM at Weston Town Center Bell Tower, combined with Weston Running Club. The run is 3.6 miles and has a 7, 9, and 11 minute group. Sometimes a few of us run as much as 4 or 5 miles. A drink after is always a possibility.
