October WordPress Meetup

The door of ICAB has been fixed so it's a viable event venue again!

We'll have a couple of talks/demonstrations this session.

1. A report from WordCamp Europe - I have lots of free swag for you including t-shirts, free hosting for 1 year and free online training courses and of course ... stickers.

2. A talk by Gilbert (@blueclock) on using the Advanced Custom Fields Plugin in a podcast project.

3. Kristof Bernaert (@ssstofff) will give demonstration of Dynamik Website Builder for the Genesis framework.

4. Website breakdown - let's pick a great web site and figure out how a website was made, what themes and plugins were used etc.

5. We're going to build a plugin! 2 minute introduction to this new side project starting in November.

6. Call for speakers - you can respond right now!

7. Info about the meetups that we're organising in Gent and Antwerp.

See you all there.

Gilbert (or anyone else), are there "shownotes" of this meetup?
What I'm looking for is the name of the Child-theme that Kristoff used (Sorry Christophe, if I've spelled your name wrong...)

Hi Chris, you can find the child theme on www.cobaltapps.com. but you need anyway also the core theme of Genesis itself to get it working. Both are not free, but the price worth as it is a one-time fee. More on a blog end of this week. grz, kristof

    A bit too technical for me, but it made me realise I would like to learn more about it. So curious I am ( - ;

Many people prefer http://wpml.org/ as it has better features and support. There are some new multilingual plugins coming soon but they're beta version at the moment

I did have a good time and learn some things. I am more of a user that needs, wants, would benefit from help and support because of the number of non-profit projects that I am involved in. I would be delighted to have some one sit with me for 2 hours (paid) to guide me as to how to make one of our blogs much better. I am sure it can be done in about 2 hours, at least at this stage. Do email me at [masked]

I'll broadcast this to the wider list.

Good to meet you all. As discussed yesterday - http://whatwpthemeisthat.com/ - is the site which will inform as to what theme and plugins are being used

Great to hear about ACF plugin... have been avoiding custom fields up to now because I thought they might be complicated to manage, but this plugin looks great. Sorry to miss all the talks. See you soon! :)

Remember folks it's upstairs at the ICAB on the left handside. Azzar room. You can use the front door of ICAB as it is now working again.

    Hi All,
Hope you are well and good. Not sure I can make it for the next meetup butI will try.

Half way through this post you can see this text much bigger than the rest : “Rubinfeld remembers when Starbucks wasn’t a trenta-sized juggernaut, but a longshot beverage company.”

Is this created by a plugin or a style sheet ?

    Thanks for any tips

a tip about a location: ChiChi in Antwerp. It's on the grand marketplace in Antwerp. It's a mexican restaurant with a second floor, which events can have if they eat or drink there. I don't know if they have a beamer and so on, don't think so. For a event-firm, i've helped there a few times doing some team building-events.
    http://www.chichis.be/Antwerpen.html

Also the second-floor of the famous pub 'Den Engel' is mostly available, also on the grand-market.

I will mail Tara of Feweb (federation of web services) if she could mention this meetup group in their next newsletter and tweets.
