We received a request (see below) through Meetup by a mom who would like to have a few ukulele players to entertain at her daughter's 6th birthday party. The birthday girl is also a uke player (baritone!)
The mom offered us $50 to play which I thought we could use to subsidize the cost of some official BUkS logo t-shirts or some other club swag. We could also just divvy up the dough among those that show up. Open to other ideas.
Please respond as soon as possible if you're interested. I told her that 8 players may be a stretch but 2 or 3 might be possible. I also promised her that I would let her know in time for her to make other entertainment arrangements if we can't muster a few folks to come and strum.
Here's her message:
Meetup Message from: Laurel, via Buckeye Ukulele SocietyInquiry about ukulele players for a party...
This may sound an odd request, but I'll just put it out there... My 6 year old daughter is a ukulele fan (and has a baritone.)
For her 6th birthday party (Sunday, June 29th from 11-3), I would like to assemble 5-8 players who would be willing to come to her party for a couple of hours to just hang out and play and demo for the kids who are interested in learning more about the instrument...
It's kind-of a community gathering and there will be cake, drinks and veggie nibbles for everyone... The party will take place at a canopy at Whetstone park (which will be set up near the playground area nearest the duck pond.) Do you think any of the players in your group would be willing/interested in coming to the party? I can only offer $50 total for all players (and ply all with drinks and cake :)... It promises to be great fun! Let me know your thoughts....
Thank you for considering my request, John!
Sincerely, Laurel Durrett
