This is a book club for anyone interested in Buddhism and/or philosophy of life. We will be reading and discussing the book, Unlocking the Mysteries of Birth and Death by Daisaku Ikeda, as well as other buddhist writings and concepts. Mr ikeda is a Buddhist leader, peacebuilder, a prolific writer, poet, educator and founder of a number of cultural, educational and peace research institutions around the world.

As third president of the Soka Gakkai (value-creating society) and founder of the Soka Gakkai International, Daisaku Ikeda has developed and inspired what may be the largest, most diverse international lay Buddhist association in the world today. Based on the 750-year-old tradition of Nichiren Buddhism, the movement is characterized by its emphasis on individual empowerment and social engagement to advance peace, culture and education.

for more on Daisaku Ikeda go to http://www.daisakuikeda.org/

THIS GROUP IS NOT AFFILIATED IN ANY WAY WITH SGI OR SGI -USA.

This book club is open to all people of all faiths. Its purpose is to read and discuss the works of Dr. Ikeda, as well as related literature, in an open and mutually enriching forum. It is not a workshop or seminar, everyone is encouraged to dialogue, and you do not need to be a practicing buddhist or have a knowledge of buddhism to join, however if you are interested in learning more about Buddhism and how to apply the tenets of the Lotus Sutra to everyday life, this is the place to come. We will meet in Cafes/restaurants and/or people's homes. Here are further books in the series which we will discuss in the near future

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
