This is a non-denominational book club, but mostly draw on books that could be called "Modern Buddhism". Just like any other book club, we are reading down a list of books on the topic of Buddhism and we discuss them at restaurants and cafe's near Takoma Park.
How Much to Read
For a discussion that everyone can enjoy, attendees are required to read at least half the book or the corresponding historical text if available.
You don't need to be self identifying Buddhist to participate and the organizer will not pressure you to "join the club." If you would like to mention your favorite local buddhist group, you still must read the book to attend. All community announcements will be held to the end of the meetup. *Proselytizing, even if you are being nice about it, is off topic.*
