Please join the Open Music Ensemble at the New York Insight Meditation Center for a program of Music and Meditation, the first in a new series to be offered on every third Saturday of the month at NYIMC.
Tonight we will have an exciting combination of instruments and musicians, and a wonderful butho dancer as well. After a brief introduction the musicians will play improvised acoustic music which you may use as an object of concentration. You are also free to engage in any other contemplative or quiet activity you may like. At the end, we have an opportunity to share experiences. Many have found this a great opportunity to deepen their meditation practice.
Performing will be: Kenya Kawaguchi, shakuhachi; Anne Dearth, flute; Jonathan Saraga, trumpet; Ken Silverman, oud and/or guitar; John Sarantos, native American flute; John Murchison, upright bass; Michiru Inoue, dance; and Philip Foster, meditation and gong.
