Eight Verses of Training the Mind

10 Tuesdays starting June 4th, 7-9pm

In this course we study the Eight Verses of Training the Mind, a famous text on lojong written by the Kadampa master Geshe Langri Tangpa [masked]), a seminal work on the development of bodhichitta. The first seven verses deal with method - loving kindness, bodhichitta - and the eighth deals with wisdom.

Sogyal Rinpoche has been encouraging all his students to use the Eight Verses as the main method for transforming our minds through love and compassion, particularly in terms of integration in daily life.

The teachings that are used in this course were given by Sogyal Rinpoche to the closed retreatants of the Three Year Retreat, and were later shared with the Home Intensive Retreat. Working with each of these verses provide a sense of how we are all simultaneously working with releasing our habitual self-grasping and self-cherishing and cultivating love, compassion, and bodhichitta.

In addition to studying the Eight Verses, this course provides a framework and structure for a contemplation on the Eight Verses.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
