Lonkto Hollow- Eastwood Meadow loop

We will hike a counter-clockwise loop starting on Lonkto Hollow Rd. The first section will cross a meadow and then pick up an unofficial but very clear horse trail (marked orange on the map). We will then pick up the south section of the Eastwood Meadow Trail (marked green) and follow it to the intersection of the official horse trail (marked purple) which will bring us back to the start. We will break for lunch but will otherwise keep a brisk pace of roughly 3 mph due to the relative lack of elevation gain as compared to previous hikes. Total distance covered will be approximately 7 miles; all trails, no bushwhacking. We should be done by 2:00 pm if not sooner.

I will car pool from the Parking lot at Walmart in Springville. I will be leaving the South side of the parking lot at 7:45. If any body wants to car pool let me know. Also there is a festival in Ellicottville this week end. The road through the middle of town will be closed. Taking Mill st. across from Tops will get you around the center of town. I do not remember the name of the road to turn on that will go to Rt. 98 I know how to go but not the name of the road. will check it out and get back

Dave - you can take Elizabeth Street on the east side of Ellicottville which will take you to rt 242 on the west side, bypassing the business district of the village. Then take Rt 252 to Rt 88 (Bakerstand Road) to Rt 353 to Rt 86. get off at the Red House exit (exit 19), turn right onto Bay State and follow it to Lonkto Hollow road on your left. google amp and directions here starting from the junction of 219 and 242 just east of the village of Ellicottville: http://goo.gl/maps/87...

The advantage to starting on Lonkto Hollow Road is that this hike can be done all year. ASP1 is closed from December 1 to April 1. Also, there is no park entry fee when you start from Lonkto Hollow road

I'd love to do this hike...but I'll be at the Bills game. Hopefully this hike can be offered again in the near future.

I'm sure we can do it again soon. It's a nice loop without much elevation gain. Can't wait to hear about Redfield!!
