Where are hikes at points north of Buffalo--the Niagara River Gorge, etc.? Are there parks in northern parts of Buffalo that are suitable for hikes? Are there hikes up that way?

There's also the Lockport Nature Trail Park, located north of the city, heading towards Wright's Corners. Can't forget the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge in Basom NY, not that far from the Royalton Ravine. Amherst State Park in the village of Williamsville offers some nice hiking trails that follow Ellicott Creek. There's also Reinstein Woods in Cheektowaga.
