i would love to come tho i am a bit shy. I have been wanting to learn to crochet for a long time but have no one to teach me. Which meet up in may would be best for a true beginner like myself, preferably mid to late may as i am going to be out of state for a week early in the month

I've been a member for a while, but I've never gone to a meet up. I can't make the one this month, but I'm hoping I can come to the next one. IDK how to knit or crochet and I'd love to learn. What should I buy and bring with me as a beginner?

For knitting, I'd recommend a skein of smooth, non-novelty yarn (like Lion Brand Wool Ease Worsted or Patons Classic Wool, both available at JoAnn or Michael's) in a light color and a pair of size 8 needles. For crochet, I'd recommend the same yarn, but a size H or I hook.

Although I would enjoy coming to crochet or knit with the group, I find this location is a little far for me. If your group ever wants to meet a little closer to Main and Harlem or around UB south campus, I'd be happy to join you.

I'm sorry you can't make it. We have tried meetups in other locations (like the Panara's on Sheridan) and didn't have much success. The same people that were coming to Wegmans before just drove a little further to go to Panaras. We have no plans to meet in other locations. We do have some members that might be able to carpool with you (we even have a couple members that travel in from Lockport several times a month). Maybe try asking on the discussion board.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
