Buffalo WordPress Designer/Dev Meetup

This is our monthly Designer & Developer Advanced WordPress Meetup.

Discussion in Theme Design, Plugin Development, advanced Security, and other more advanced elements to WP.

You'll probably want at least a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and PHP to get the most out of the Advanced Meetups. Feel free to give it a try if you're on the fence and you can also attend the User meetup to see where you feel more comfortable.

If you're looking for something directed towards content editing, blogging, and less development based elements to WordPress, try our User Meetup running every fortnight to this one.

Always great topics and conversations. Some ideas for future dev meetups... responsive design/implementation, Best Code editors, Beyond editing in Sublime Text, Using Git for WordPress, Using Git for theme development, Creating FaceBook apps. Maybe Responsive topics for June?

Hey all, thanks for your questions. This one's definitely going to be for designers who are brand new to WP. The next meetup is for people who own WP sites and want to discuss content, SEO, or are having bugs/issues with their sites and need help. The designer/developer meetups vary-some weeks we go into more advanced stuff, but this week's one is perfect if you know nothing about WP but want to see what's under the hood. You don't need to be an html/css master for it; if you know what a tag is you'll be fine. So please don't wait till next meetup to come!

Ok. If that's the case I will try to attend.

How can can I integrate a user based suggestion box in wordpress and buddypress. 1000 users would = to 1000 suggestion boxes.

I thought this was a beginner class as well. Looks like I'm out too. Maybe the next one.

I'll catch up with you guys at the next one! Sounds a little beyond me at this point.

Hi guys—what's the final word, is the plan for this to be an advanced discussion, or beginner? If advanced, I'll probably skip and see you guys at the next one. I'm definitely a beginner in this arena!

If you're a beginner in basic web design/development than you may want to try the next meetup first. If you've got experience in HTML/CSS but aren't familiar with WordPress, you'd do fine in this meetup.

Like to discuss implementation of short codes (not necessarily plugins). Thanks

I'd like to tailor this meetup to designers who are new to WordPress, including those who are new to web design in general. Possible topics: how to get started, how to build a theme, how plugins work, how to set up a server for a self-hosted WordPress site, how to use the administration, etc. Please chime in with any ideas or suggestions.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
