Buffalo WordPress Designer/Dev Meetup

This is our monthly Designer & Developer WordPress Meetup.

Discussion in Theme Design, Plugin Development, advanced Security, and other more advanced elements to WP.

This meetup is catered towards designers and developers. Whether you're a designer new to WordPress, or an experienced Developer this is the meetup you'll want to attend. A basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and PHP to get the most out of the Designer/Dev Meetups. Feel free to give it a try if you're on the fence and you can also attend the User meetup to see where you feel more comfortable.

Also newly added, is our rule during the Designer/Developer Meetups, of NO SEO discussion. We're adding this simply because while SEO can go hand-in-hand with WordPress, it often overruns everything else discussed. We are a WP Meetup, not an SEO Meetup.

If you're looking for something directed towards content editing, blogging, and less development based elements to WordPress, try our User Meetup running every fortnight to this one.

Another great Meetup. Ben & Andy did a great job sharing using GitHub for your theme. Can't wait for the next Git session in 4 weeks. Put it on your calendar!

If we could, I would like to focus a bit on Custom post types. I have a calendar page I developed for a site and there is a component that displays on the sidebar. It works, but it would be cool if it could be more automated. It is a good learning project.

This will hopefully be good for me. Maybe everyone can lead me in the right direction in learning WordPress. A friend just asked me the other day about making him a WordPress Site... Told him I'm familiar with it, want to learn it, but at this time don't know anything about it... :)

OK-unless anyone has a specific agenda item, we're gonna talk WP workflow. I'm gonna show off my bare-bones starter theme, hand-crafted with bbEdit (the bb stands for "bare bones, btw). Andy's gonna get his and git gutter on. What's in your WP development toolbox? Show it off!
