WordCamp Connecticut

Hey meetup members, the organizer of the CT WordCamp asked me to forward this, if anyone's in the CT area this spring:

"On May 10, 2014 at the Stamford Innovation Center (Stamford, CT), Connecticut is hosting it’s first ever WordCamp.  WordCamp is a casual, locally-organized conference covering everything related to WordPress, the free and open source personal publishing software that powers over 25 million sites on the web.

For only $25,  attendees can see 24 speakers from all over the country present on a wide range of topics including how to use WordPress more effectively, beginning plugin and theme development, advanced techniques, security, and WordPress business opportunities.  Admission to the event also includes lunch and a ticket to the after party.  This is the best deal you will find for a high quality tech conference.

Even more exciting is the opportunity to meet and learn from other WordPress users face-to-face.  The event will have an informal “genius bar” staffed with experienced WordPress volunteers who try to help fellow attendees with their WordPress questions.  In addition to learning from each other, attendees often find new collaborators, employees/employers and potential co-conspirators in the WordCamp crowd.

Although tickets have not yet gone on sale, anyone interested in attending can sign up for the mailing list at http://2014.connecticut.wordcamp.org.  Currently WordCamp CT is accepting applications for speakers on anything related to WordPress.  Companies interested in sponsoring WordCamp CT are also welcome to contact the organizers."
