The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc.
The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc., The Western New York Regional Volunteer Center, and Team Depot invite you to participate in the Western New York Celebration of Service 2014. The WNY Celebration of Service is part of a nationwide effort to renovate 100 veteran housing units in one day.

Join our team of Team Depot. volunteers, AmeriCorps members, students and community members on September 11th, 2014 in the City of Lockport as we work together to renovate two homes operated by local Lockport agency, S.E.R.V. Niagara: S.E.R.V. Niagara was founded in 2012 with a mission to S.E.R.V. - Support, Empower, Respect, Veterans and their families. S.E.R.V. Niagara’s primary objectives are to provide permanent supportive housing for veterans and their families, and to establish Niagara County's first veteran-exclusive self-run therapeutic housing unit(s). There are approximately 20,000 veterans living in Niagara County. Over 2,000 veterans are disabled and/or homeless (there are 895 documented homeless veterans). S.E.R.V. Niagara currently provides the following programs and services: creative arts therapy, food, clothes, hygiene products, academic scholarships, horse therapy, transportation assistance, veteran and family support services, wish programming, and necessary workshops.

Volunteers will contribute to the ongoing renovations of two S.E.R.V. Niagara owned & operated, veteran housing units located at 571 and 589 Walnut Street. Activities will include interior and exterior renovation, landscaping, painting, and more.

Volunteer registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with activities beginning at 9:00 a.m.; a catered lunch will be provided for volunteers.
