Poetry

We will meet on Tuesday April 16, 2013 at 6:30 at the park in downtown Buford to share poetry. The park is located across from Bona Allen Mansion. Please remember to bring chairs and a blanket if you would like. We will share poetry that has meaning for you, explain why it is important to you, or you may share some poetry that you have written. If there are weather issues we will meet at Red Sky.
Also, to get to know one another better we would like to play a fun "get to know you" game. Please write two things about yourself on two pieces of paper. One fact will be true, the other fact will not be true. We are going to read them out and guess who wrote it and if it is true or not. I'm looking forward to this! Sounds fun and exciting!

I just wanted to add that I loved the informal atmosphere of the park and all the discussion and sharing that the game sparked. I also enjoyed the personal poetry written by Marlin, Lori and Anne. A wonderful evening!

Yes, I loved that about the poetry selections. I'm going to have to research more poems and their origins, I found the background and origins intriguing. The motivations behind writing are very interesting!

I will bring grapes, cheese cubes, and bottled water for tomorrow evening, just some light refreshments. Remember to bring chairs if you want or a blanket to sit on. I will have 2 extra chairs that I will bring tomorrow if anyone would like to borrow those. Also, remember your statement about yourself, one true and one not true, without your name on the paper and we will guess who wrote what and if it is true or not. Can't wait, sounds so fun!
    See you then!

Hi everyone! There is a schedule under the discussion tab for book selection topics. Please look on the list under the discussion tab to see when you bring book choices, also check to make sure that it is accurate. If you see anything that should be changed please let me know. Thank you! Lori

I'm reading a wonderful book right now: The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani. It's fantastic, NOT a romance, there is a kind of romance part, but not predominately romance. Very captivating read!

Do you have a waiting list?

    March 28, 2013

    • Lori P.

I double checked, the waiting list is on, so it should automatically move people onto RSVP. Can't wait until we meet!

Hey Lori, thanks for putting all those photos on the website. We look like a fun crowd!

You're welcome! It was fun putting them on there. The geek in me loved figuring out how to finally post photos other's had taken: it involves opening other programs, saving, moving, and renaming, interesting stuff!

Has anyone read "The Dinner" by Herman Koch? It's set in Amsterdam and I would really like to discuss it with someone. So, if anyone has read it, please let me know. Thanks!

Lori, will there be a 15-person limit on the April meeting?

    March 19, 2013

    • Lori P.

Hi Susan! Yes 15 people. The group is easier to mangage and better able to hear one another.
