Resto Crawl II

UPDATE:  We are meeting at Pho Bac, and we encourage you to buy a bubble tea, when you arrive (15 minutes early) to show our thanks for providing a meeting spot.  The event is rain or shine!  There is a chance of a scattered rain shower or two, so bring an umbrella.

It's half game, half hike, and half ten course dinner. In other words, it's the man-bear-pig of the Buford Highway Dining World, the RESTO CRAWL!

Have you ever wanted to have your dessert as your first course? Well, you may well get your wish! The courses are randomized, and it's up to you and your team to figure out what to eat, where, and in what order.

We'll hit ten restaurants along a one-mile stretch of Buford Highway in (somewhat) randomly selected teams of four and on foot (or by orange bus). At each restaurant, you'll have a puzzle to solve, and when you do, you'll enjoy one course of your meal.

What you need to know: 1) Plan on walking several miles. 2) Bring $25 for your team's budget (You may get some back). 3) Bring water, sunscreen, good walking shoes, an umbrella, etc. 4) Although you'll go down in history as the "kewlest people ever," if your team wins, if it doesn't, you'll still have an unforgettable time and rack up plenty of interesting stories to share with folks who weren't lucky enough to be there. AND you'll enjoy a lot of great food along the way!

This will probably become an annual event. I hosted one a year or two ago as a FaceBook event, and I still get people asking me when we'll do it again. Well, we are! And they'll need to join the Buford Highway Foodies to join in on the resto-crawling fun. :)

If you have a smart phone that can read QR codes, please let us know when you sign up. Every team will need at least one member who has an app for reading codes. We can also help you get one, if you have a Windows Phone, Android, or iPhone. There are plenty of free options for download.

As always, show up if you sign up, and be fifteen minutes early or at worst on-time. Repeat no-showers are cleansed from our ranks on a regular basis. Remember: There is ALWAYS traffic in the ATL. Plan accordingly. :)

Incredibly fun adventure!!! Loved the game aspect and wonderful food/restaurant choices...many of which I would have never known to try on my own. Met so many interesting and friendly foodies. You did an amazing job planning and executing with all the various restaurants. Can't wait for the next one!

Thank you David and Geoffrey for one of the best Meet Up experiences I have had yet. I was impressed with your organizational and technical skills. However, it was your incredible friendliness that made an even greater impression. Thank you!

The Crawl was one of the most unique and fun events I have attended. It was a BLAST. Outstanding if you will. I can't wait for the next one! A big thank you goes out to Dave F and Geoffrey for making it happen on the technology side and planning side. I know you both put in many hours of your time writing the app and program. I'm sure you guys (and Edgar) spent a lot of hours visiting all the restaurants to get them on board. Thank you all so much. I know that the others in the group really appreciated what you guys did.

Excellent time. Glad the weather mostly cooperated. Can't get over the amount of work that you three put into organizing this affair. If this becomes an annual event, you can just go ahead and sign me up for next year's.

Purple (color of royalty) team thank other teams for participating. I tried to slow down Barbara, Nikki, Rex so other teams would have chance, but I was unsuccessful and we won anyway :)

Is it ok if I'm able to attend for a couple of hours? I can't make the entire event, but would like to come for what part that I can. If this messes up the game, let me know and I'll take myself off the RSVP list. Thanks.

There is chance of rain everyday this week including Saturday. Will this event still happen if it rains on Saturday night?

Steve's right. Bring an umbrella. There's a 20-30% chance of some rain. We won't cancel, though. It's on, like Donkey Kong!
