I haven't found a better NY Italian deli -market in Atlanta then The E 48th Street Market. Owned and run by New Yorkers Charlie and Anita Augello and their children.
They have some of the best traditional Tuscan, Piedmontese and Sicilian recipes and staples that one can find. Not to be overlooked are the mouth watering meats displayed in the deli case, and the ever-popular Mozzarella prepared by Charlie on a regular basis. Charlie also bakes a variety of Italian breads and cakes every day.
The shelves are awash with antipasto items imported from Italy, fresh pastas, traditional cookies and excellent homemade cannolis. They have a very nice Italian wine collection and of cause many Italian specialty items.
Irresistible lunch entrees and side dishes are made from family recipes and prepared daily in the kitchen. Chicken or Eggplant Parmigiana, Real Italian Meatballs, Eggplant Casserole,Sicilian Eggplant and Primavera Lasagna just to name a few.
Hearty sandwiches are served on crusty Italian rolls filled with layers of Italian meats, cheese, roasted peppers, olive oil, pesto and topped with their own special sauce.
We will do a Saturday lunch since they are not open for dinner. They will hold some tables for us but they requested we get there by 11:30 am before the local crowd starts to pour in. The dinning area is limited so we will only be 12.
They are located in Dunwoody, but only 5 miles from Buford Hwy and 285.
Sandwiches and lunch entrees range between 7 - 10 dollars, but be prepared to pick up more food to take home. I promise you it will be hard to resist.
