I envision small communities that grow their own food and have a flexible division of labor in which people are "cross-trained" and can rotate roles in society. I think each small community (a tribe or village) should focus on taking care of its own needs and ecosystem, but also build collaborative relationships with other communities. In other words, each community should feed themselves and serve as responsible stewards of their environment.
I think that multinational corporations and a global division of labor and resourcing is a key impediment to realizing this vision. I think we need to invest more in building capacities and resources within our communities, rather than relying on corporations to sell resources to us.
I am an aspiring farmer and teacher interested in sustainable, diversified food production. I believe that building ecologically and socially responsible food sources is key to developing a better society.
