My road to wellness began after my 40th birthday. I hated the way I felt and looked. My energy was low and I felt so bloated. I did not like being short of breath after going up a flight of stairs or how uncomfortable I felt in my clothes. So February 2012, I started working out. That was the worst experience ever! I was out of shape and in a lot of pain. My knees popped and my right hip hurt. I remember dreading working out with my personal trainer. However, I got used to it. I enjoyed working out, eating right, and the increased energy I was experiencing. UPDATE: I had lost a total of 70 pounds, then I suffered a major loss. I started doing what most people do when they are stressed; comfort eating. I gained 35 pounds. Now I am back on track, working out and eating right once again. I learned it is important to keep going no matter what happens in life. If you fall off the horse, dust yourself off and get back on it!
Having a support network always helps. When you are accountable to others, you are much more likely to succeed.
I would like to lose about 75 pounds by June/July.
As a healthcare professional, I have seen the devastating effects of Type 2 Diabetes. My goal is to prevent it from occurring in myself, my family, and especially, prevent it in my patients. I have made the decision to promote wellness.
