The purpose of this group is to provide a safe and friendly alternative to fitness gyms and expensive workout facilities. If you are from Burleson, Joshua, Mansfield, Crowley, Rendon, Fort Worth, Arlington, or any of the surrounding cities, and want to connect with others to share FITNESS that is FUN, HEALTH that is ACHIEVABLE, and HAPPINESS that is CONTAGIOUS, then this is the group for you!
The people in this group love to meetup at various Zumba classes all over the Metroplex.
Our regularly scheduled classes are:
Tuesday and Thursday night classes are at First Baptist Church in Burleson, and are alwaysFREE!
Another purpose of this group is to inform our members about other fitness related meetups at other locations, including Zumbathons at Dallas Cowboys Stadium, and various fund raisers for charities. Most of these are not free, but they are always for a good cause. Also you can find out where the special MASTER Zumba classes are. These are very special and are held to support the traveling expense of Zumba Jammers, who are awesome, awesome, awesome instructors.
What is Zumba?
Zumba is variety - If you haven't tried Zumba Dance Fitness yet, it is unlike anything you've ever done before, unless you've taken some toes-in-the-sand Salsa or Merengue lessons at a resort in the Caribbean. We dance, we have fun, we laugh, we act silly. The music is exhilarating! It's all types of Latin and other international songs, mixed in with Hip Hop, Swing, Reggaeton, Cha-Cha, etc. There's something in it for everyone. We have African songs, Egyptian/Bollywood songs, Jazz, Bachata, Samba, Jamaican, Columbian, Tango, Flamenco, Belly Dance, the list is endless!
Zumba is easy – Zumba is designed for everyone, every shape and age. It is part dancing, part fitness like you would expect from an aerobics or jazzercize class. Anyone can participate in a Zumba class and have fun. This program is not limited to dancers or fitness fanatics. Anyone from beginner to advanced can enjoy the benefits of a Zumba class. The choreography is simple enough - just follow me. Even if you don’t feel like you have a good sense of rhythm, you can follow the moves in a Zumba class.
Zumba is effective– Burn 400-800 calories an hour with Zumba! Interval training is one of the best ways to burn calories, and Zumba incorporates interval training by using alternating fast and slow songs to vary the intensity. Many Zumba moves work the core abdominal muscles. This means firmer abdominals, a stronger core and a less back pain. The exhilaration of the class will leave you refreshed and stress-relieved!

Why do we offer these classes for Free?
We believe in helping others get fit and having fun while exercising. We are not in this to make money and we don't sell products. Matthew 10:8 says "Heal the sick...Freely (without pay) you have received. Freely (without charge), give." Not that we believe we have any special healing powers. We are just doing our part and giving back to the community. We do believe that exercise keeps you healthy and can heal many ailments.

But trust me, it is not necessary. As of this time, the only expenses we have are the cost of this Meetup page, which is $144/year. I have been paying this out of my own pocket since 2010, because this is a ministry to me. It's been worth every penny to see the smiles on people's faces and know that I am helping them get healthier and happier.
INSTRUCTORS: Wren, Suzanne E., Suzanne T., Heather, Brittany, Kim, and/or Cara, will be group-teaching this class.
COST: You do not need to be a member of this church to attend this class. It is FREE to the public. Everyone and anyone is welcome. You can also bring as many friends as you like.
No experience necessary. Just bring a smile and a willing heart and let it lose! Every week there are new people, so don't feel like you will be trying to catch up on the choreography. We keep it simple. Even if you've never danced or participated in a Zumba/REFIT® class, you can do this! Please arrive 10-20 min. early to sign a waiver, get checked in, and socializing.
CLASS FORMAT: Each week (2-4) Licensed Zumba/REFIT® instructors will lead this exercise/dance fitness class for approx. 50-55 minutes, showing you the Zumba and REFIT® steps, which include Latin and international movements, such as salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton, hip hop, cha cha, tango, and belly dancing, to name a few. It’s more fun than you’ve ever had! You won’t even realize you are working out. We also dance to contemporary Christian songs by Toby Mac, Mercy Me, Natalie Grant, Mandisa, etc. as well as Top 40 radio hits by artists such as Maroon 5, Jennifer Lopez, Black Eyed Peas, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Train, Little Mix, etc and even occasionally mix in some country music like Little Big Town, Billy Currington, Luke Bryan, and Band Perry. As you can see, we dance to a WIDE variety of music so there's something for everyone!
Our classes end with a 5-10 minute prayer time in the Fellowship hall. Anyone can offer up a prayer for someone in need. Please allow our group the privilege of praying for you, or a friend, or family member. Feel free to offer an anonymous prayer as well or to share as much as you want to. We love to hear praise reports as well! This is also a completely optional part of our time together. If you are not comfortable with it, that is perfectly fine. You are still welcome to enjoy our classes.

We love our community and their faces. We just don’t always want to see their “bits and pieces”! Conservative workout attire is definitely preferred.
The music we choose is positive, powerful and appropriate for all age levels. We’re intentional about what goes in your ears!
Dance trends may come and go, but REFIT® carefully selects choreography that is fitness-focus and is family-friendly.
THE ME SHOW
We, the instructors, are trained to focus on you. This isn’t our half-time performance. The goal is to see you sweat and smile!
You won’t be perfect (and neither will we) and that’s okay. Your first few classes might feel like a disaster, but you’ll eventually catch on. The main thing is to HAVE FUN…and you will!
