Cordage basics

Review of basics in creating cord from plant fibers: I have dried nettles from last year and some recently collected cedar bark. I can show how to prepare the nettle stalks and the twisting/plying of the fibers to start cord-making. I'll provide some dried stalks for practice.

I plan to share the cedar strips I've collected but have no experience working with it. Come prepared to experiment or share your skills. I have not worked in cedar so this will be a learning process for me as well.

If anyone feels adventurous, there are plenty of fresh stinging nettles to be collected, either for tea, soup or more fibers. Miner's lettuce is very abundant right now too.

Bring whatever you want to sit on. And expect mosquitos though I haven't seen too many yet this year. If they are bad, we may walk down to the river's edge where the wind can keep them at bay.

I will not be able to attend this day, but if you decide to do one on the weekend or another day I would be all over it. This looks like a great time and I am sorry to have to miss it.
