2014 Pitch Party!

Hi Business Networkers!

It's a new year and we decided to try a brand new type of event! On February 18th, we're going to be having our first-ever Pitch Party.

What exactly is a Pitch Party?

We're glad you asked!

For Business Events NY, a Pitch Party is an energetic one-night event where entrepreneurs will be able to share what they do, how long they've been doing it, and reinforce their Unique Value Proposition to our large group of professionals.

Everyone will learn about how to deliver a business pitch, then get a chance to speak on stage, share their mission and networking goals, and to wrap up the night, openly network with the other entrepreneurs in the room.

Here's what you can expect at our #TeamBENY 2014 Pitch Party:

• How To: Use Improv In Business Workshop. Joined by the excellent business growth coach, Laura Westman, attendees will learn about incorporating creative elevator pitches and comedic humor into telling their business story. (30-minutes)

• Elevator and Business Pitches from Networkers (60-minutes)

• Open Networking (30-minutes)

*A one drink minimum (all drinks are on Happy Hour pricing) will also apply.

Don't miss out, we only have a few seats available and this event will be a fantastic way to form meaningful relationships early in 2014.

While the meet up was fun, we were charged 15 dollars and rushed throughout it. Once the even ended we were "invited" to watch the show (as if we weren't there for business) and spend money on drinks. After we were rushed out without anytime to actually network, we were pushed into the bar which was jammed with people coming to the show. Since it was so jammed it was too cramped to even get a chance to talk to anyone else at the even, or even identify them, because it was a crowded bar.
It was a great idea for an event, but $15 and rushing it, made it poorly executed.

Hi Mikey and Howard, That's great to hear that you had fun at our meetup. Unfortunately these events tend to fill up very quickly due to high demand, so I know what you mean -- there are so many people there that it's tough to network with them all! Your concern over the $15 fee is certainly valid; please appreciate that these events incur significant costs, and we do our best to present the best networking opportunities at a reasonable price. I hope you consider attending one of our events in the future, and that your experience is not only fun but also more in line with your expectations.

Thanks for coming everyone! Hope to see you on Wednesday for our big event. Remember: People won't always remember what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel. Check out upcoming mixers with #TeamBENY

It was wonderful to be able to practice a pitch in a supportive and humorous environment. Thanks to Laura for getting us up, moving, and just beyond our comfort zones.

I'm very exited too, can't wait for this! I just have one question, where do I pay?

Good question! Meetup should prompt a link, but in case it doesn't work, here's another one: https://www.eventbrite...

Hey everyone! I'm very excited to share some trade secrets about the magic of comedy in business. We're going to talk a lot about how we impact others, and how to use humor to get results you want. Before we get started, I want to know a bit about YOU. What's the #1 problem you encounter in talking about your business?

    • Sunee

I have yet to really drill down into what I think are the most exciting benefits of my new service so I find that the explanation of what I do is too long winded. I keep trying to figure out how to shorten it effectively.

Thanks Laura! Sunee, you're not alone. I hear that very often. Looking forward to finding a great way to improve our pitches together, with Laura's help!

Can't wait to have you pitch! Who is the one person you're looking to meet? :)

Will you provide any initial background information about the entrepreneurs who will pitch, such as whether they have developed professional business plans, to attendees. I am not interested in pitching. I want to listen to what they say and find out if any could benefit from and pay for marketing services.

How many pitchers and how many listeners can fill that space?

    Thanks. Atwood.

      Hello Atwood,

There will not be a distinction between pitchers and listeners. Everyone will have an opportunity to pitch and listen to others. We will not provide background business plan information, that is confidential for most members. The maximum occupancy for the room is 45-50 people. Looking forward,
