Janet Holmes is a Technical Designer currently working at Vineyard Vines in Stamford, CT. She began her career at Mademoiselle Knitwear, a domestic sweater factory in Brooklyn, NY working her way up from a designer’s assistant to the Director of Research & Development. For the next 25 years she worked in the technical areas for companies specializing in producing children’s wear, sweaters, cut and sew knits and denim clothing for a variety of national and globally recognized brands and retail outlets such as Cold Water Creek, Pendleton Woolen Mills, Chico’s, Stella & Dot, Sundance Catalog, Alfred Dunner, Aeropostale, Wal-Mart, JC Penny, Kmart and Sears. Over the course of her career, Janet has been involved in all technical aspects of product development, construction applications, and production, as well as liaising closely with retailers and with factories overseas, where she has been elemental in working with pattern makers and production staff.
