Thursday at 8am there might be Eco Green Group in Saratoga, or it might be their meeting is in the evening this week, they do that once per month. At the time
of this writing it their website has not been updated.
Also Thursday at lunchtime there is this event, IEEE-CMPT presents "The Origins of Silicon Valley: Why and How It Happened Here" with speaker Paul Wesling. Register in advance and it’s five bucks for unemployed and students. Buffet lunch, all you can eat. At the Biltmore in Santa Clara. If you're not going to Csix why not kick the tires on this one?
This will be at PARC in Palo Alto, pricey but in the past there have been excellent snack foods and wine. Never been disappointed with this group. Last week I put out some information which was incomplete or
proved later to be incorrect. Mike’s Sports Bar closed, so the SF Peninsula Medical Device Meetup moved to the Westin in Palo Alto. Similarly, “Thirsty Third Thursday” was not in Mountain View but at Faultline in Sunnyvale. If anyone went to the wrong place, well, that’s one I owe ya.
Last week I was at Bio2Device, excellent speaker I thought, and I also was at ToastMatchers.
Wednesday I chose “SF Medical Device Meetup” over the other events going on. Nice atmosphere, met some interesting people. Not as technical as the IEEE, AIAA and ASQ offering that same evening … the attraction perhaps was that it was different.
The SME tour Thursday was well-attended and the subject business was fascinating, a maker of all kinds of medical products, using EDM and laser welding among other processes. Lots of really tiny parts. Learned what a “Swiss screw machine” is. No photography allowed, so no photo album to share. On
account of this tour also, did not attend Eco Green Group or Csix.
Was not at Post Pro Match last Friday because I went to see the Space Shuttle, which didn’t live up to its billing, as I reported previously on LI and FB.
Saw a lot of interesting homebuilt electric vehicles at the big show Sunday at DeAnza. Also saw for the first time a Tesla Model S, the new Toyota RAV4, the electric Ford Focus. Had seen before a Fisker, there were a couple of those in attendance also. Pics here:
Are you someone with an engineering business or an engineering consultant in the Silicon Valley? Or are you an engineer or entrepreneur who might need to contract or partner with such a business? Silicon Valley Business of Engineering Meetup welcomes engineers from all design disciplines and the businesses that support them such as manufacturing, technical training, and sales of engineering hardware or software tools. We'll have a regular casual mixer event with light refreshments where businesses can make connections with consultants and working engineers. We'll also post low cost tech events of interest in the local community and from our sponsor companies.
