Although Christmas is approaching and many groups have already quit for the year, there are a few highlights this week.
Didn’t find anything going on today, Monday. Also no Bio2Device tomorrow, Tuesday.
ToastMatchers may or may not be on Tuesday at 1pm at Connect. Either it's the last time at Connect, or more likely last time was the last time.
Looks like no SETI Tuesday weekly talk again until Jan 8th:
However I did find Tuesday night this IEEE meeting at Agilent: “An Engineer’s Overview of the World’s Largest Astronomical Project, the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA)”
Free event, don’t see an RSVP required, it’s at:
5301 Stevens Creek Boulevard
Santa Clara, California
Main Building, Aristotle Room
Time: 06:00PM to 08:00PM
I’ve not been to this group’s events before. More info here:
Wednesday evening there is the SF Peninsula Medical Device MeetUp at the Westin in Palo Alto, starts 6pm. Looks like 20+ have signed up already. You should RSVP through MeetUp if you can, but I didn’t the first time I went and there was no heartburn.
The usual conflicts on this Third Wednesday ( ASQ, IEEE PES ) seem to have taken the month off, so a good chance to attend the MeetUp.
No EcoGreenGroup Thursday morning, but at 10:15 to 1pm Csix will offer “Mock Interviews” in Saratoga:
Maybe the brightest star this week to me is the ASME Thirsty Third Thursday, this time held at the Firehouse Brewery in Sunnyvale, a location familiar to many ProMatchers. 6pm, free event but RSVP requested for headcount:
Last week’s SME tour of NPI Solutions was very worthwhile, very interesting business and a good turnout though not a sell-out. Since I was on the tour I could not attend ToastMatchers. That evening the SETI presentation, a weekly event new to me, also very entertaining, may be a good networking opportunity after a few more meetings, get the hang of it. I heard the Bio@Device
event that night was also very good.
Wednesday I chose the ASM - SAMPE meeting, good presentation and an interesting crowd, many from Lockheed and NASA. Amusingly, some ancient heckler in the front kept interrupting with oddball questions. Long line to sign in also.
Also the same night, the free IEEE PV event at PARC was also good according to one attendee I spoke with. Too many events on conflicting nights, a shame.
I also attended Csix on Thursday morning, the presentation was on “Personal Branding”. But I made a good contact who led me to another good contact, both on my LI now. You never know.
Probably nothing is going to be scheduled between Christmas and New Year’s. So it might be there’s no “weekly bulletin” again till 2013.
Merry Christmas, thanks,
