Button Mashing #4: Games + King of Kong!

For our next Button Mashing event, we'll gather at my place for some games and...what's this...movies! I figured it would be awesome to watch a gaming-themed movie or two, particularly the documentary The King of Kong. It's a fantastic documentary that every gamer should see. Please let me know which games + systems you'd be interested in bringing; food & drink would be awesome, too.

Hey guys, I'm going to have to cancel on this one. I've been sick for the last couple of days and still not feeling good. I'll see you all on the next one!!

Hope you're feeling better man. You missed a couple good flicks, but we'll do something like this again soon.

Thanks man, and I just realized you sent me a SMS. Google integrated text messages into Hangouts and I didn't notice I had that SMS, lol

Hope you're feeling better! It's probably a headache just being removed from Battlefield.

Had a blast! Also ahve to say the documentary was both informative and a tad disturbing. We need to run more of that crazy stuff.

    Running a little late.

We've got 13 people coming tonight? That's awesome! I should be able to provide seating for almost everyone, but if anyone has a foldout chair they can bring, that's great. I've also got 2 TVs for games, so if one person could bring a TV, please do. By the way, the pedestrian gates are on Bryant St and the code to get in is 9999. You can reach me at[masked]-3687. See you soon!

Don't mind if I use your oven to heat something up I take it?

      November 9, 2013

    • Nick P.

      Sure, that's fine.

      November 9, 2013

  • Steven S.

OK with my schedule it looks like I CAN make it. Will bring some food ;)

Thanks to everyone who replied. I've decided to move our event to the proposed time of 7pm on Saturday. If for any reason I'm able to accommodate people any earlier, I'll post on here ASAP. I see some people are offering to bring games/systems. That's great, and I encourage you to continue the conversation! I have the following systems:

    - Xbox 360 with the Halos, Gears of War, and other awesome games
    - PS2 with quite the games arsenal
    - N64 with a couple games (No Mario Kart or Goldeneye yet).

Also, can some people volunteering to bring some snacks?

    • Adam K.

If anyone wants to play any NES games, I have a complete collection that I can bring pretty easily.

      I can bring some snacks.

Quick Question Nick, does your oven work? If I make it (I may now due to the time change) I may have a LITTLE something to cook up . . .

  • Wulfric C.

Surprised no one offered to show off the Wii U, anyway slight change of plans for me, I will be bringing my PS3 instead if that's ok..but I'll still bring Soul Calibur V just in case.

    November 7, 2013

  • Katherine K.

Aww... I'm so sorry, but that time change is a bit too much for me, since I also have something to do on Sunday and don't really have an easy way of getting from Union City to there and back. Unless someone wants to take me, but apart from that, probably best for me to postpone. Sorry, guys.

Any chance for some Smash Bros. during this? I could bring the system and game if you'd like. I even have the Project M mod for Brawl.

    November 6, 2013

    • Adam

Yeah, I brought my Wii and Smash Bros to the last meeting, but you are more than welcome to bring it I would imagine. I haven't played with the Project M stuff. I've just watched videos.

      November 6, 2013

  • David L.

I'll bring coffee to make it midnight gaming. No worries.

    November 4, 2013

    • Wulfric C.

well I got no problem with the hours, but I just feel like we may need more time if we're going to squeeze in a movie screening with our usual gaming.

      November 5, 2013

    • Adam

Well, if does get moved back to 7 - 11, we can always meet before and get some food before hand. It isn't gaming of course.

      November 6, 2013

  • Wulfric C.

I have no conflicting plans; so it's fine but I am curious, how come it's an hour less?

    November 4, 2013

    • Nick P.

I would be out of my house that afternoon and probably wouldn't be back until closer to 7.

      November 4, 2013

    • Wulfric C.

no midnight gaming? oh well ok =P

      November 4, 2013

  • Nick P.

POSSIBLE TIME CHANGE: I'm considering changing the time of this event to 7pm-11pm. If you would NOT be able to make it because of the time change, please reply to this comment with "No" by Wednesday. Thanks!

Eh, I might be less likely to come if it is later. We'll have to see.

      November 4, 2013

    • Steven S.

May make it more likely I can make it.

      November 4, 2013

  • David L.

That time change would be perfect for me because I just found out I'll be working during the morning and into the afternoon.

    November 4, 2013

  • Andres

woot woot! I'm ready for some more Mutton Bashing!. Nick, I can bring the usual (TV+PS3). I'll try to get there on time because COD Ghosts is coming out on Tuesday so I will probably spend the whole weekend playing it :) haha.

Good to see some new faces attending!

    November 3, 2013

    • Adam

As far as indie stuff, I would suggest The Stanley Parable to anyone that enjoys a choose your own adventure story.

      November 4, 2013

    • Wulfric C.

I played the original, it's so good that even a explanation would spoil it. Do try the Demo, it deliberately has nothing do with the game but concept is there and it's good fun.

      November 4, 2013

  • Wulfric C.

Yarr. Aye mate, ye be swigging that rum?

Still seeing if my gang is going to do the viewing this day or if I'm free!

    November 3, 2013

  • David L.

Hey guys! I'm looking into my schedule and will let you guys know if I can make it. Also let me know if you guys need me to bring anything.

So, hey. I'm in unbelievably introverted person from Union City that is trying desperately to NOT be introverted. I'm considering trying to make this event, but also trying to meet people for other things. Any tips on how people meet people to hang out with these days? =P

    Oh, also... Hi, group!

    1 · October 29, 2013

    • Katherine K.

      Well, that's step one. I'll do my best to keep following up, as well. ^^;

      October 30, 2013

    • Adam K.

I think it helps if you just start RSVPing to events. I'm fairly introverted as well, and I've found that it helps prevent me from making excuses to stay in if I have events in my calendar that I've already said I'm going to.

      October 30, 2013

  • Wulfric C.

Now this I can do, see you there. I'll be bringing my 360 again since it was such a hit last time.

    October 28, 2013

  • Steven S.

Damn I probably won't make it as I've got a viewing party at MY place (though I may try and reschedule). Also I need to bring some of my home-cooked food :P

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
