7 Databases in 7 weeks study group! Week 6- riak !! (yeee haaa!)

7 week study group - program covering the 7 most well known NoSQL database technologies, covering one NoSQL database a week, based around "Eric Redmond and Jim Wilson"'s book by the same title.

Please RSVP if you wish to join us for a 7 week study program, based around exercises and learning from the book so that we can prepare at home, and come join a group of folk also on the course at a weekly session. Daniel Vauhan and myself, Alan Hemmings will be the resident (domain beginners) and will be available to answer questions, and assist with learning.

The 7 databases that we will be covering are, (in no particular sequence)

* PostgreSQL
* HBase
* MongoDB
* CouchDB
* Neo4j
* Redis

While I'd encourage you to attend all the sessions, (so that you can get a unbiast comparison) you don't need to attend each week, and can attend the sessions that interest you. Please RSVP to the sessions you will be attending so that we can plan accordingly. This course is designed to give everyone a good introduction to the major NoSQL technologies.

Pre-requisites for this course:
Please purchase the book "7 databases in 7 weeks" and complete (on your own) the matching chapter in the book before attending each week.

Please bring with your laptop to the weekly meetup and study session, where we will discuss the implications of what we've learnt, and what we each see this particular NoSQL technologies strengths and weaknesses are. Where to use it, where NOT to use it. Also, if you bring your laptop with we can work through any problems that anyone has had during the week on the topic.

I will be contacting the vendors and we may have surprise visitors joining us on some of the evenings.

We'll be meeting at my house, (limit to 12 RSVPs) and depending on the number of people who RSVP for this study group we may change the venue to accommodate more. If it's full, please put your name on the waiting list so that I can find a suitable venue, and you'll be notified as soon as we have a bigger venue.
