We had a discussion about the Dec 8th Zoning meetings during our kick off Arizona Dispensary Alliance meeting this past Thursday, as well as some discussion about rumors that CA and CO investors are going to swoop in and take the majority of the dispensary licenses because they have more capital coming from existing dispensaries…and the worry is the dispensary proceeds will not stay in-state to benefit our charities. businesses and economy. Anyhow, a lot of concerned folks made some really good points and info. I pasted a couple of summarized points below from our meeting minutes.
We all have a common interest in Az, so we are reaching out to CAMP420, NORML, AOD and other Associations that are interested in working together to create a petition drive to show our strength in numbers and petition the ADHS to include an Arizona residency requirement in their draft rules to implement Prop 203. If you are interested in partnering together on this item, please email me at [address removed] .

Zoning Discussion: 25 mins
Noted Point: On Dec 8th all major cities will be holding their zoning meetings and the work to prep for these meetings is happening now. This will not be the time or the place (proper forum) where you will be able to give input to the zoning committee. They will have already done their prep work/research by then. If you have input and want to influence, you need to start calling the city manager office to find out how you can voice your opinion to zoning committee members. The meetings on the 15th are the City Council meetings. The council meetings will also not be a forum where you can provide input, so don’t miss the opportunity to provide your input prior to Dec 8th. There has been a lot of talk about politicians that didn’t want this to pass, trying to zone us out before we even get started and also talk about zoning committee members having NO idea of what is required from an electrical, waste management, security stand point to run a dispensary and yet their setting the zoning requirements for them – the time to influence is now! Once zoning committee members have spent their time researching and writing their recommendation, we are unlikely to get them to change anything. Please do not wait, get involved now!
Noted Point: A user on the AZMMJC board has already posted a thread on this topic and even posted up a sample letter that we all can take and use. There is also a link to find the email addresses to the state representatives, so please, we need everyone to do their part and send these emails this week. Here is the link to the thread in the forum: http://www.azmmjc.com/Forum/showthread.php?347-Out-of-State-Operators-Will-Steal-This-Market!!!&p=638#post638
Arizona Residency Requirement: 25 mins
Noted Point: A lot of rumors going around that CA and CO investors are going to come into the market and pick up most of the dispensary licenses. There is NO requirement in Prop 203 for state residency by those applying for a license to own a dispensary. An attendee at the meeting said he’s already talked with Will Humble and his minds somewhat headed down this path already but said the people need to ask for it, and then he will put it into the drafted rules. We need to harness the power of this group to send letters to our state representatives and ask them to contact Will Humble and ask that this be put into the rules.
Open: If anyone knows somebody that’s a Certified Notary and is compassionate around MMJ, please email us at [address removed] . We would like to discuss having them come to our next meeting and put together a petition to submit to ADHS, asking for a 2 year residency requirement for all dispensary applicants.

I'm Just Saying...
" I find it strangely coincidental? that Phoenix and Scottsdale are holding meetings at around the same time, and on the same day, Dec 8th. I wonder if it is to dwindle down the support at the meetings? Support has been very good at Scottsdale's hearings ( I was there both times last week.) I hope we continue to have the same community support to make sure that Prop 203 is enacted appropriately and effectively.
I thing we should encourage an even stronger show of intelligent, well dressed and well spoken support at both meetings!
