Our next Atlanta CANSLIM/IBD Meetup is scheduled for Wednesday June 17, 7pm at the GSU-Brookhaven facility. Details and RSVP available at www.meetup.com/canslim/calendar/10605452/. First and foremost, we will analyze as many stocks as possible using the CANSLIM methedology. In addition to any stocks suggested by the members, we will simply start with the IBD 100 as published in next Monday's IBD and start to go down the list and evaluate the fundamental, structural and technical considerations of each stock. We will also review and discuss the overall market environment as it pertains to the CANSLIM methodology.
The latest (4th) edition of William O'Neil's book "How to Make Money in Stocks" is now available for about $11. We will raffle off a copy at the Meetup (and a 2nd copy if we have more than 25 attendees). It begins with 100 charts of successful stocks from 1880 to 2008 and runs 440 pages. I have not dug into yet, but hope to make progress by our Meetup.
We had a great May Meetup where we 1) reviewed the case study for JOSB that was posted to our Meetup site on April 3 2) reviewed 3rd party sources of data to help in our analysis and 3) discussed the structure of a CANSLIM trading system with money and risk management considerations. This last topic is as important as the selection of inidivudual stocks in your investment success.
Last month, I mentioned IBD's printed chart book service which is printed every Saturday and then shipped out via FEDEX for Monday delivery. The blue chart book typically covers 1,600 NYSE and AMEX stocks and the green book contains approximately 1,200 NASDAQ stocks. I will bring samply copies of both to the Meetup - come early (between 6 and 7) if you want to examine them or otherwise discuss educational aspects of how CANSLIM works. The regular Meetup will kick off at 7 pm sharp!
I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Meetup!
Kind Regards,
Bill Lyman
