Hello fellow Can Slim Students,
I want to wish each of you a happy, healthy and profitable 2012!

I also want to advise you about an administrative change coming to our Meet Up Group.
Over the holidays there have been emails-a-flurry between IBD and all IBD Meet Up Leaders.  Very soon IBD will become the ORGANIZER of all of their sponsored MeetUps, and the existing organizers will become Co-Organizers.

Exactly what that means for our group is a bit unclear just now.  Hopefully, not much will change.  The leadership team (Bill Lyman, Tara Rice, Me, and others) will continue to schedule our meetings monthly at GSU-Brookhaven.  We've been monitoring our attendance and find that we have not yet outgrown the space, thanks to your effort to RSVP and pay-in-advance.  (It continues to be important for us to prepare adequately for your participation.  So, please continue to use the RSVP to alert us if you are coming, or have to cancel your space.  No response is as good as a response of "Not Coming.")

IBD will maintain sponsorship to MeetUp.com and offer supportive educational materials as well as periodic speakers as they have done in the past.  I continue to work closely with Tim Reazor and Krstina Pavlovich and remain assured of their solid integrity.

I have some general thoughts about topics for our 2012 live meetings, and some ideas about expanding participation.  I hope each of you will be a part of that.  Your topic suggestions are ALWAYS welcome.

If there is ONE newspaper that should not be missed, it is their publication, Investor's Business Daily, dated Jan 3, 2012.  Here they set the tone of critical events and dominant sectors expected to shape the market in the coming year.  This issue is worth more than the quick scan that we may be conducting throughout the year.  (It's also interesting to re-read their headlines published in the issue dated 1.4.11!  They don't "predict," they state the issues that will be the driving forces behind the markets..... pretty accurately, I believe.)

I'm looking forward to our first meeting of 2012.  Hope to see you there!
Emilu
