"Come with Problems, Leave with Solutions"
Formerly "AuTeens." This group is founded and facilitated by Brian R. King LCSW (Internationally Recognized Authority on Asperger's). This is a discussion group where Spectrumites and NT's can come together and talk about the toughest problems between them. Problems of collaboration, communication, motivation, education etc will be solved here with someone who solves them every day.
Brian has written three books and is currently working on his fourth. Brian is also on the Autism Spectrum, as are his wife and three sons. People travel from all over the midwest to consult with Brian in his Naperville office. His unique approach to helping those on the Spectrum connect with themselves, each other and the world is second to none.
This is a FREE group through which Brian volunteers his time once a month to help more people begin to learn the strategies they need to move in the direction they want in life.
In addition, Brian will be joined by two co-facilitators Katie Levin and Jamie Specht who are both adults on the Spectrum. You can learn more about Brian at www.Spectrumite.com
Why Attend?
1) There's no pressure to talk. Contribute if you want to or simply learn from the conversation.
2) Members learn more about themselves in a short amount of time then they would any where else.
3) They get treated with the kind of respect and acceptance not typically received in the larger world.
4) They get to be surrounded and supported by others who understand what they're going through.
5) The group is led by an adult on the spectrum who navigates the world and can teach them how.
6) They can attend with family whom they often have difficulty communicating their experience to, and learn how
to do so.
This group will meet the 3rd Saturday of each month from 1-2:30pm.
