The California Backpacking Club is a small and private group of friends.
We strive for an "all core" membership at CBC.
We ask all members to become and stay active and participate on a regular basis by periodically (at least once every 6 months) by either RSVPing YES, NO or WAIT LIST for posted events.
-Please maintain a profile photograph that is recent and clearly shows your face.
-Carpooling and Reliable Transportation to Events
DO NOT RSVP UNLESS YOU HAVE TRANSPORTATION
Our official policy on this is if you do not have a safe and reliable means of getting to the trailhead and/or meetup location on your own, do not RSVP for the event.
-As a general rule of thumb, we do not coordinate carpooling amongst the attendees of an event. We may from time to time help stimulate conversation in support of someone who would either like to provide their vehicle or ride with someone who is offering up a carpool situation.
Those who offer carpooling are doing this out of the kindness of their own hearts. Please take care of these folks, pay for their gas, pay for a car wash afterwards and treat their offer as a privilege.
Backpacking destinations by design often require driving on graded off road routes. Unless specifically mentioning otherwise on the trip page, all trailhead destinations statiscally can be reached safely in a regular front wheel drive vehicle with factory rims and bumper covers. Just like the weather though, road conditions can change without warning.
-Last minute cancellations or failure to show up to any event as posted when you have committed to providing carpooling for other members will result in removal from the group.
The events offered by CBC were designed and carefully managed by and for only the most discerning adventure trekkers who demand unique, well planned and executed events in exchange for their responsible and frequent participation and contribution to the club and it's events. We welcome all those wanting to adventure trek regardless of nationality, race or sexual orientation to apply.
