Kickstarting Your Writing Career Workshop & Lunch Social

Date: January 12, 2013 Saturday

Time: 10 AM - 2PM

Venue: Torrance Municipal Airport Meeting Room

Fee: $20

*The $20 Fee will pay for the venue, workshop materials, and lunch.

A new year means another new start for your writing career.

In this workshop, we hope to answer questions about writing/publishing to help you get started on your path as an author, help you set writing goals for the year, and help you find the “write path” towards achieving your writing dreams.

If you’ve always wanted to write, but don’t know where to start, if you’re stuck in a writing rut or want to rekindle your passion for writing, or if you’re serious about getting published but don’t know much about the industry—this workshop will be of great help to you.

We’ll have worksheets, handouts and creative writing exercises to help you get started on whatever writing path you wish to travel.

Afterwards, we’ll have a Lunch Social, so you can network, form critique groups, and get to know fellow writers who will aid you in your writing careers.

It was great! Nutschell and her co-organizers Tiffani and Alana did a great job with organizing. The packet they provided is full of helpful information and a wonderful complement to a professional presentation (in an informal setting) that I found to be practical and inspiring. Thank you!!!

Wow, what an exhilarating experience today’s workshop was! Most of the information presented, I had previously encountered in classes and workshops elsewhere. But today's was a wonderful reminder. The games we played, the delicious lunch, and the opportunity to socialize with one another after the presentation made this group superior to any other in which I’d participated. (And I’d attended plenty of them over the years!)
I am hoping to stay in touch with many of my fellow participants, and to sustain this enthusiasm, well into the future!

always a treat to meet fellow writers and glean from the intense research Nutschell does. Thanks to all for your participation during the workshop and games. I saw some great intense conversations and ideas being tossed back and forth - excited to see those connections between attendees. I feel ready to sit down and WRITE!

Dear Nutchell: Do you know whether our meeting location, 3301 Airport Dr., is in a specific building on the grounds of the Torrance Airport? If so, is there a small cross street close to it that I can look for? (Is it closer to the Madison St. end of Airport Dr. or the Crenshaw Blvd. end?) I couldn't tell by looking it up on Mapquest, and am worried I may not be able to find it...

    • Nutschell Anne W.

Hi Cleo!Best if you use Google Maps for directions. 3301 Airport Drive is the main building for the Torrance Zamperini Field Airport. You'll find the building on the cross street of Zamperini St. and Airport Drive. You'll know it's the right building bec. you'll see a large white airplane monument on your left as you enter. Once you enter the building, go to the door on your left and you'll find the meeting room there. :)

Thanks for the directions, Nutchell! See you tomorrow morning! :)

Does this mean writers who have been published OR those taking the course? "get to know fellow writers who will aid you in your writing careers."

    December 25, 2012

    • Nutschell Anne W.

Hi Mary! It just means you get to mingle with our other writer members--some of whom are published, but most of who are aspiring authors. :)

I have been looking for a new writing group to join for many years! (The last one ran from 2004 to 2006 or so.) I am currently querying agents to help me get my juvenile novel published, while also working on a memoir and keeping up an ongoing newsletter for the choirs at Loyola Marymount University. I'm in need for some tips for how to keep straight the constant masses of information I come across and ideas that I generate!
Zampirini Field is close to my home in Palos Verdes. I look forward to meeting everyone, and hope you will welcome my participation.

Thanks, Tiffani...and Merry Christmas! I look forward to my first meeting with this group.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
