My mother bought the ukulele for $10.00. I was 12 at the time. The uke has been in many closets and not played until three years ago. I am now 68. I have been playing off and on for the past three years and I love it. I have several ukes now and a tenor guitar.
I like Hawaiian, Classical, Jazz and World Music. Favorite artists are Jake Shimabukuro, Delhi to Dublin, Brittany Pavia, The Beatles, Morton Feldman. I sometimes like to play songs on the uke that are unusual such as Nessum Dorme from the opera Turandot.
I am currently learning to read music. I can play a little bit by ear, and know about twenty chords. My goals are to greatly improve my playing, strumming techniques and practice more than I currently do.
Going to attend this great event and I am sorry that I have not been to practice lately…but work has been calling.
Whenever I can, I will attend. Nice folks!
