Hi, I'm Lori.

I have done a few 60+ mile backpacking trips in the Sierra including cross country legs through alpine and class 2-3 passes. Most of my trips are weekend outings, usually in Yosemite, Sequoia, or Kings Canyon NPs, or in the national forests/wilderness areas between them. Some of my trips are 3-4 day. I run a very large hiking group in the Central Valley and a smaller Sierra-centric backpacking meetup. I am a volunteer for Search and Rescue. I teach a backpacking class at a local adult school. I've done a variety of overnight trips in the Ventana Wilderness (Double Cones, Cone Peak/Vicente Flat, Pine Ridge to Sykes) and have also hiked the Ohlone and in Point Reyes. We go to Henry Coe State Park every spring to tackle the steep steep hills with backpacks on. My profile photo is from a hike in Sespe Wilderness. Always looking for new adventures.

Thanks Lori for the quick reply. Oh, well, had to ask. I don't mind crampons, but anything that's truly climbing, or that requires an ice axe is not for me. I was really hoping there'd be a hiking route around the peak. thanks again.
I've found info at the Mt. Shasta city ranger station to be vague and sketchy, which has deterred me from hiking there yet. Sounds like you've done stuff there, so I was wondering if meetup might do a guided hike there again?
I read your comment that at some previous time it seems that there was a guided Mt. Shasta hike. I'm wondering if you have one planned for this year. Since, I'm not a climber (though I've started scrambling), Shasta peak is not likely ever going to be a destination for me, but this year being so low on snow might change that. Or, if that's still a climber's route, then maybe a hike around Mt. Shasta the way Mt. Rainier's Wonderland Trail goes. (continued on next post)
Have not found the questions you wanted us to respond to for the Skyline to Shoreline backpack. However I am training for the backpack by taking weekly hikes with elevation gain/loss. Next I'll add weight and try to kick up the pace. I WILL BE READY.
Hi, please accept a light dinner and cake invitation to my house after our Sat. hike, celebrating Spring and Donna's birthday, see you soon
Oops - 8-10 years not backpacked.
CONTINUED: However, I have not backpacked in 8-20 years. Still have stove, cook kit, bag, pad, etc. Can't find trail tent so would need to share with another gal. Have been MeetUp day hiking regularly. Sunday I did 9.3 mi. with Keio to beyond Whiskey Log. I am somewhat slow but steady. Feel free to contact Keio regarding my capability. If I am not an appropriate candidate for this trip then no hard feelings.
Hi Lori. I never got back to you re: the Yurt Trip overpayment. Keep it to help defray the cost of the annual MeetUp fee and to help cover any supplies you or Karol provide.
I would like to join this hike, ie. not cancel. However I need more info. I couldn't quite make out from the description how many miles each way for the backpack portion. I gave away my old 1974 Kelty frame pack but have a nice Mountainsmith internal frame pack suitable for an overnight.
I'm new to the group and I'm trying to join a hike. I have been reding through the rules and some of the board to figure out how the wait list works. I'm getting discouraged. I only have Sundays free for outdoor adventures but everything seems to be very, very full. I don't want to be one of the dreaded "no showers" or a "Last minute canceller" as is bound to happen if I schedule something two month out. Do you have any suggestions? I would very much appreciate them. Thank you!
Lori It's Bruce bush you can remove me from the membership list.
