I am in town for a month and would like to meet with and support any local atheist/secular groups!
Welcome to MNA, Jose! Looks like you'll be in town for Cafe Scientific. Have fun! Did you already purchase your advance tickets? I hope so, it's the first one of the season, and it's quite popular.
Welcome! My Dad and brother have the same name. I also have another brother in Chicago. He's atheist as well. I know it will be unlikely, but if our meetings and your travels coincide, join us for a lively discussion. Best wishes and thanks for joining the group.
I watched Agora with my brother last night. Thanks for suggesting it. It's sad that free thinking women are still perceived as a threat to so many, especially the religious. Imagine if Hypatia had prevailed...
Welcome to this group!
Sorry we are not going to be able to make it on Saturday. Frank is going to the Compton & I am taking a Spanish class.
There are 2 events of interest coming up:
On Saturday, November 17th at 8 PM (dinner at 7PM) Matt Lowery from The North Suburban Chicago Freethinkers Meetup Group will give a talk on "Higgs Boson: Does Discovery of the 'God Particle' Mean the End of Physics?" at the College of Complexes. He is a very good speaker. http://www.collegeofcomplexes.org/
Con't next post!
