As is customary there will not be an African Americans for Humanism-DC meeting in May 2014. Our next meeting, scheduled for June 14, 2014 is a special event. On that date the Secular Coalition for America along with AAH-DC and the Center for Inquiry-DC are co-sponsoring a screening of Jeremiah Camara’s new film “Contradictions” as part of SCA’s annual Lobby Days and Secular Summit.
Jeremiah Camara is a prolific African American author and filmmaker whose work focuses on black religiosity and the negative impact belief has on our lives and in our community. Mr. Camara will be at the event to answer questions and comedian Steve Hill will be the master of ceremonies. Location: The Liason Capitol Hill, 415 N.J. Ave., NW, in the Metropolitan East/West room.
Metro: The hotel is located about ½ mile from the Union Station Metro Station.
Walking Directions from Union Station
Union Station is located just 3 blocks from The Liaison Capitol Hill.
• Exit the station and walk toward the US Capitol, following the first small section of the semi-circle that is adjacent to the station.
• Turn right onto E Street, NW.
• After one block, you will cross North Capitol Street. The Capitol dome will be clearly visible to your left.
• Continue on E Street for one block, and then turn left onto New Jersey Avenue, NW.
• The Liaison Capitol Hill is in the first block, on your left.
The SCA”s Lobby Days and Secular Summit involves you in several days of training in lobbying techniques and visits with lawmakers, along with speakers and workshops on political and social issues of interest to the secular community.
