Book Club in September

Our book for September is The True Believer by Eric Hoffer.
This relatively short book is a classic on the nature of fanaticism. First published in 1951 it was referenced by Dwight Eisenhower in one of his speeches about world conditions. The book had a resurgence of interest after 9/11 as people tried to understand the thinking behind the WTC attacks and attackers. Hoffer considers mass movements from early Christianity to modern nationalism.
It should provide for an interesting discussion.

I agree, Betty...lots of good comments from all, and a thoughtful and lively group. Joan
