While looking for atheist and skeptical podcasts, I also began searching for skeptic groups in the region -- being frustrated with how prevalent pseudoscience and New Age thinking was in Eugene even outside my limited circle. (An alternative explanation is that the Flying Spaghetti Monster led me here with a sauce trail.)

I'm looking forward to interesting discussions. I'm not used to group settings like this, but it should be interesting.
Hailing from an environment in which it was unacceptable to question, being a skeptic feels liberating. Evaluating the evidence may take more time, but you're less likely to be mislead by the religious apologists, Deepak, "Dr." Oz, or Glenn Beck.
