I have know about cfi for some time. My neighbor, Tim, introduced me to your coffee klatch group. As a science teacher I have had to weather many storms generated by local school boards, and parent groups who did not agree with the teaching of key biological concepts. As a science supervisor in a large K-8 district I called on Eugenie Scott to reassure my teachers that it was ok to teach the state curriculum pertaining to evolution. I have served on numerous committees to write educational objectives and evaluate science text books. I have battled those of little thought all my life. I am most proud of my 25+ years of work with both Oklahoma and California Science and Engineering Fair students and board of directors. I am looking forward to utilizing my background and skills as a certified naturalist (National Association for Interpretation).
I am in agreement.
The comfort of talking to like minded people. Not having to guard what I have to say. Being able to learn from others who's thinking I value. To be able to enjoy social events and grow new friendships. To find new ways of educating others to think critically.
I am a retired science teacher who is still somewhat new to the area. I am happy about finding this great group of thinking people.
I feel very comfortable in the group.
