Battered Women's Shelter of Summit and Medina Countie

Join us in helping out the women and children in the Battered Women's Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties. They will be receiving donations on Saturday, December 15th and need volunteers to help carry, box, wrap and stack supplies. You don't need to stay the whole time, but come for as long as you can. (Please note in the comments what times you will be able to help.)

We have been talking the last few months about how we can help, how we can give back and how we can participate in our community. This is one of those ways. The people escaping domestic violence are among those in most need of help to get away and to stay away from those hurting them. Let us take a few hours out of our day to help give them hope for their futures.

I was very happy to have had this opportunity to volunteer

While sorting the donated goods into boxes, I became overwhelmed with the generosity of the human spirit. There was a tiny pink hat and glove set, a blue handmade baby blanket with a heart sewn into it and toy trucks and winter jackets and so much more. My heart goes out to all those who donate and volunteer and especially to those who use the shelter.

Thanks to each one of you that came out and helped! It was wonderful to see so many CFI faces there. Stephanie, I hope we see you at meetings, now that school is out.

Ellen, I hope you feel better soon!

This was just the beginning. I hope we have many more events like this in the future! Keep an eye on the group.

    Thanks!

I can't RSVP now. I guess it will add to the confusion?

Sorry, Eric. We were in full swing at the center. I didn't get a chance to reply until later.

Thanks, Monette, for setting this up. It was great to meet Pamela and Stephanie and Patrick, and I learned a lot from talking to the counselors. Definitely an organization worth supporting.

I thought the staff members were really helpful and nice - I also thought it was cool that they provided coffee and food for the volunteers! I very much needed the caffeine!

If you can't find me on Saturday, ask for Terri or Brittany. Please let me know if you RSVP'd but cannot attend. Even at the last minute. I will need to fill open spots.

Thanks, everyone for giving up some of your time for this!

OK then, 10 it is. Cloudberry, I think it is the same bldg as Mature Services, just the other side, accessed from Exchange.

I just got some information back from the shelter volunteer coordinator. They only need us between 10am and 2pm. And not as many people as we originally had thought.

Those of you who were planning on coming at 9, please come at 10.

Those of you planning on noon, please come at noon. This way, we'll have people spread out for them.

Thank you so much! All of you!

Google maps shows a large parking lot that looks like an old strip mall. Is that the place?

    December 7, 2012

    • Monette R.

That appears to be the place. See you at noon or so!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
