Canada Day Celebration and Potluck Feast

  • July 1, 2011 · 3:00 PM
Last day comments:  Please e-mail me to let me know what food items you are bringing to the potluck.

If you need the address please RSVP before 11:00 a.m. Friday July 1st.

The party will start at 3 pm at Evan's place (near the Pretoria Bridge; the address will be provided by email to those who RSVP).  We will have a potluck dinner starting at 6 pm. The area offers a good vantage point for viewing fireworks and everyone is welcome to stay for that.  Please bring lawn chairs for yourselves if at all possible. For food:  Please bring your choice of beverage, and an appetizer or salad or main course or dessert to share.  Some suggestions are: fruits, veggies&dip, chips&dip, cheese&crackers, breads or rolls, cold meats/fish/poultry (or vegetarian equivalent), casseroles,
green salads, mixed salads, cookies, squares, cakes, etc.

We will be providing disposable plates, cups, and cutlery; feel free to bring your own re-usable items if you prefer.

Kids are welcome.  We plan outdoor activities (eg volleyball) on the field across the street, so if you are interested come ready to play some games.
(Does anyone have a net and/or ball?  If so please let me know.)   ****NEW*** For kids, and kids at heart, and science geeks, there will be a hands on DNA extraction activity, using strawberries, bananas, and any other living material you'd care to bring and try!  ***********

(A reminder for those driving that the lot at Loblaws will be packed as the day goes on as many leave cars there and walk downtown.)

Always a great time with this bunch - relaxing, good food, great conversation, and dogs to amuse the kids . . .

Please note that I will be leaving shortly to go help set up so may not be able to answer questions unless I can do so from my meetup app on my iPhone.

Patrick: yes you may bring your dog. Evan has a dog too - I think Darwin (his dog) is a golden lab - so relatively big too.

Is it alright if I bring our dog with us? She's very, very gentle, and very, very big. She is well trained and behaves herself.
