On-Your-Own Dog Social Walk - Thurs evening - at Maidu!

1960 Johnson Ranch Blvd, Roseville, CA. Look for the folks milling around the parking lot with dogs! : )

Join us on a socialization walk that provides environment to work on your dogs impulse control and focus in the presence of other dogs and people through the use of reward-based training and positive reinforcement.

We will start at 600 and will start all together! We will walk the lit trail areas.

Please bring high value treats and prepare to be more exciting to your dog than the environment! Use happy voice and lots of praise when your dog exhibits desired behavior.

If you are new to the walks and don't have much luck with getting your dog's focus around other dogs, please come to our Tuesday walk at Miners Ravine for extra help prior to coming to this walk.

Please do not exhaust or overstimulate your dog. If your dog has had enough, please feel free to end your session.

If your dog is hard to control, please avoid this walk at first and work on these issues at the more secluded Miners Ravine Drive walk on Tuesday evenings.

Please bring 6 foot leash or shorter. No retractable leashes pretty please! They are dangerous and hard to see and easy to break.

Please bring:

- Water. Bring clean water for you and your dog!

- Dog potty bags. You MUST clean up after your pooch!

- Good attitude. This is a social event, so let's have some fun!

I still went on the walk with my boyfriend and daughter! It did start to rain near the end though. We worked on some of the advice that Kay gave us on the last walk about offering treats when we pass other dogs so Korben doesn't start growling. Also, my Dave, my bf, tried to make it to the Tuesday walk but must have been in the completely wrong spot because he didn't end up finding anyone. I will go with him next time! I am also inviting some of our friends who are dog parents to join up on the walks as well :) See you guys next time!

hi I just saw the notes below....looks like only me & Julie are signed up now. I don't think it would be a good idea for it to just be Orion & a little dog on the walk. I will try for next week. No offense Julie!! ;)
    Good luck w/ur appt Kay!

Hi guys! I changed this to an on your own walk because we have a realtor appt that will probably run over. Anyone want to lead the walk? Remember, dogs that need space should be in back...Owners responsible for maintaining appropriate space. Thanks all!

How exciting, meeting a realtor. I'll keep my eyes open for anything in our neighborhood. I have laundry to do tonight and start packing. See you next Thursday.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
